Online shopping, of course

With the rise of shopping as a legitimate occupation, I imagine that it won’t be long before shopping becomes a spectator sport.

I imagine an adventure race. I imagine the most brutal conditions possible. High winds, knee-deep floods, and a special one-time only mega sale of up to 90% off on all items. Top it off with a free concert featuring Bamboo and Charisse Pempengco (odd pairing but I can’t think of a local pop icon that can drive kids crazy). The shopping adventure starts with a race to the mall. Once there, it becomes Indy 500, a thunderous pursuit for free parking space. It then becomes American Gladiators as professional shoppers barrel through manic crowds. It ends in a bloody Battle Royale for a half-priced purse.

Exciting? Of course. It is pure adrenaline rush. But it’s not real. Real shopping is lost between exciting and just plain exhausting. But people love shopping and as long as there is free AC, a fellowship of mallrats and window displays to drool over, shopping is here to stay. But let’s just say that if all these conditions were simulated, would you consider the available option? Of course.

The available option is online shopping. It’s a virtual shopping experience come hell or high water. It is real shopping enjoyment that’s within the vicinity of your favorite cushion and a vacant toilet.

Consider Auction.ph. It is open 24/7 and the only parking you have to worry about is where to park your behind. Unlike the real malls, you don’t have to wait for the next payday weekend to get a discount on items that were hot last summer. Auction.ph has Coupon Mania where discounts coupons can be downloaded for free, always! It has Buy 1 Get 1, Cooperative Buying and a host of other promos that give buyers more bang for their buck.

Buyers on a saving binge can still visit the website and have an unforgettable non-shopping experience. They would find that ogling at ogle-worthy mallgoers is easier online. While it doesn’t have the incidental parade of lookers, it has Auctionistas-student-slash-amateur-models competing for the coveted metaphorical crown that comes with the inscription, “certified Auction.ph model.” For window shoppers looking for something more profound than lip gloss or foot powder, the website has Find Your Match. We haven’t done the statistics, but we are fairly confident that the chance of scoring someone else’s email address online is far better than approaching an absolute stranger sitting by the fountain area. At the very least, the possibility of getting slapped in the face is approaching zero.

Auction.ph also has its virtual, mini-version of the mall arcade-minus the flailing limbs of color-coded choreography and the screaming victims of first-person shooters. The virtual mall has a Funplace that caters to a new breed of cerebral shopaholics. (Naks).

No closing, no parking, discounts and promos all year long; equipped for sight-seeing, love searching and playing games, the virtual shopping mall, Auction.ph, without a doubt, offers a formidable shopping option. Soon, it will also foster a community of cyber shopaholics with the launch of its very own forum.

So the next time torrential rains flood the streets, don’t be too hasty in putting the rubber boots just to go shopping. Consider your options first. You can still go shopping and you don’t even have to take off your super-furry slippers. Consider online shopping and consider www.auction.ph, of course.
